C&D and project debris

Construction & demolition debris

Project debris is generated in bursts, under schedule pressure, by people whose job is the build rather than the waste. The recovery decision is made in the first week or not at all, which is why planning it early is worth more than optimizing it later.

Where it can go

Evaluated in order,
best outlet first

Each route below is assessed and ruled out before the next is considered. Disposal is what remains after that, not where the conversation starts.

01

Source separation

Separate containers for metals, concrete, wood and cardboard on site. The highest recovery rate available and the cheapest to achieve, if it is planned before mobilization.

02

Material recovery facility

Mixed C&D processed off site where separation on site is not practical.

03

Aggregate recovery

Concrete, brick and masonry crushed for reuse as aggregate or base material.

04

Specialty recovery

Gypsum, carpet, ceiling tile and similar materials routed to the programs that accept them.

05

Last resort

Disposal for residual fractions, with recovery rates documented for the project file.

What KODA handles

Coordinated end to end

The outlet is chosen on the material's merits, not on what is convenient. Every option is weighed against what the stream actually is, what it is worth and what documentation it has to produce — and the reasoning is shown to you, not summarized.

  • Pre-project waste planning and container layout
  • Roll-off and hauling coordination across the project
  • Processing facility selection and recovery rate verification
  • Diversion documentation for green building and reporting requirements
  • Coordination across multiple trades and phases

Common in

Who generates this stream

General contractors, industrial construction, property and facility management, retail rollouts, and plant decommissioning.

One stream is a complete engagementThis can be handled on its own, at one site, with no requirement to move anything else to KODA. It can also run as part of a full portfolio. The scope is yours to set and can change in either direction.

Questions

Construction & demolition debris, in practice

Can you support a green building diversion requirement?

Yes. Where a project carries a diversion target, recovery rates are tracked and documented by material as the project runs, rather than reconstructed at the end.

Is source separation realistic on a tight site?

Sometimes not, and in that case mixed processing is the better answer. The point is to decide deliberately rather than default into mixed disposal because nobody planned the layout.

Do you handle single projects?

Yes. A single project, a single building or a phased program are all normal engagements.

Start with the material,
not the invoice

Every engagement begins with a KODA Operational Review™ — a structured evaluation of your facility, materials, vendors and compliance requirements. Recommendations come from that data.
