Film, rigid & resin

Plastics & packaging

Industrial plastic is usually cleaner and more consistent than anything in the consumer stream, which is exactly what makes it worth recovering. The difficulty is rarely the material. It is finding an outlet that wants that resin, in that form, at that volume.

Where it can go

Evaluated in order,
best outlet first

Each route below is assessed and ruled out before the next is considered. Disposal is what remains after that, not where the conversation starts.

01

Direct resin reuse

Off-spec, surplus and obsolete resin placed with manufacturers who can run it, with no reprocessing step at all.

02

Reprocessing to regrind or pellet

Film, purgings, trim and rejects ground or pelletized and returned to manufacturing.

03

Mixed plastics recovery

Commingled or lightly contaminated plastics routed to processors equipped to sort by resin type.

04

Energy recovery

Material no reprocessor will take, placed where the energy value is captured rather than landfilled.

05

Last resort

Disposal, once the routes above have been evaluated and ruled out.

What KODA handles

Coordinated end to end

The outlet is chosen on the material's merits, not on what is convenient. Every option is weighed against what the stream actually is, what it is worth and what documentation it has to produce — and the reasoning is shown to you, not summarized.

  • Resin identification and bale or load specification
  • Reprocessor and end-user matching by resin, form and volume
  • Baler, container and logistics coordination
  • Contamination troubleshooting when a load is rejected
  • Diversion weights recorded for your reporting

Common in

Who generates this stream

Plastics processing, packaging, consumer goods, automotive, distribution and food and beverage manufacturing.

One stream is a complete engagementThis can be handled on its own, at one site, with no requirement to move anything else to KODA. It can also run as part of a full portfolio. The scope is yours to set and can change in either direction.

Questions

Plastics & packaging, in practice

What if our plastic is contaminated or mixed?

It usually still has a route, though a different one. Contaminated and commingled loads go to processors set up to sort and clean rather than to end users, and we say plainly when a stream has no viable outlet.

Can obsolete or off-spec product be recycled rather than destroyed?

Often yes, provided brand protection allows it. Where destruction is required for brand or regulatory reasons, the material can still be recovered as resin rather than landfilled.

Do you handle film as well as rigid plastics?

Yes. Film, stretch wrap, rigid containers, purgings, trim, regrind and resin are all placeable, though each goes to a different kind of buyer.

Start with the material,
not the invoice

Every engagement begins with a KODA Operational Review™ — a structured evaluation of your facility, materials, vendors and compliance requirements. Recommendations come from that data.
