Spent solvents & chemicals

Solvents & lab pack

Spent solvent is frequently recoverable and frequently disposed of anyway, because recovery takes a buyer and disposal only takes a phone call. Lab pack is the other half of this: the accumulated containers nobody wants to be responsible for.

Where it can go

Evaluated in order,
best outlet first

Each route below is assessed and ruled out before the next is considered. Disposal is what remains after that, not where the conversation starts.

01

Solvent reclaim

Spent solvent distilled and returned to use, either back to your operation or into the market.

02

Fuel blending

Solvents that cannot be reclaimed blended for energy recovery at permitted facilities.

03

Treatment

Aqueous and reactive chemistries treated to render them non-hazardous where that route exists.

04

Last resort

Incineration or permitted disposal for material with no recovery or treatment route, fully manifested.

What KODA handles

Coordinated end to end

The outlet is chosen on the material's merits, not on what is convenient. Every option is weighed against what the stream actually is, what it is worth and what documentation it has to produce — and the reasoning is shown to you, not summarized.

  • Stream profiling and waste determination support
  • Chemical inventory, segregation and compatibility review
  • Lab pack preparation, packaging and labeling
  • Reclaim market placement where the solvent qualifies
  • Manifesting, transport coordination and disposal documentation

Common in

Who generates this stream

Chemical processing, pharmaceuticals and biotech, manufacturing and coatings, laboratories, education and research facilities.

One stream is a complete engagementThis can be handled on its own, at one site, with no requirement to move anything else to KODA. It can also run as part of a full portfolio. The scope is yours to set and can change in either direction.

Questions

Solvents & lab pack, in practice

What is a lab pack?

Small containers of chemicals packed together into a larger container by compatibility class, so an accumulated inventory can be shipped and disposed of correctly. It is the usual answer to a laboratory, stockroom or closed-line cleanout.

We have unlabeled containers. Is that a problem?

It is common and it is workable. Unknowns are identified before packing, which adds a step but is routine, and it is a considerably better position than shipping them mislabeled.

Can spent solvent really be reused?

Often, depending on the chemistry and the contamination. Where reclaim qualifies it is evaluated first, because it recovers a material you otherwise pay twice for: once to buy, once to destroy.

Start with the material,
not the invoice

Every engagement begins with a KODA Operational Review™ — a structured evaluation of your facility, materials, vendors and compliance requirements. Recommendations come from that data.
