Industrial & cooking oils

Used oil, cooking oil & grease trap waste

Oils are among the few streams where the recovery route is well established and the disposal route is the expensive one. The work is in matching the oil to the right outlet and keeping it clean enough to qualify.

Where it can go

Evaluated in order,
best outlet first

Each route below is assessed and ruled out before the next is considered. Disposal is what remains after that, not where the conversation starts.

01

Re-refining

Used industrial and motor oil re-refined back into base oil, which is the highest recovery route available for the material.

02

Rendering and biodiesel feedstock

Used cooking oil and recovered grease placed as feedstock for rendering or fuel production.

03

Fuel blending

Oils that cannot be re-refined blended for use as industrial fuel.

04

Treatment

Grease trap and interceptor waste treated at permitted facilities, with the organic fraction recovered where the facility allows.

05

Last resort

Disposal for material with no recovery route, with the reason recorded.

What KODA handles

Coordinated end to end

The outlet is chosen on the material's merits, not on what is convenient. Every option is weighed against what the stream actually is, what it is worth and what documentation it has to produce — and the reasoning is shown to you, not summarized.

  • Oil and grease stream identification, including totes and drums
  • Tank, tote and container management and exchange
  • Collection scheduling and route coordination
  • Contamination screening before placement, so loads are not rejected
  • Manifests, recovery records and diversion reporting

Common in

Who generates this stream

Manufacturing, fleet and transportation, food and beverage processing, hospitality, institutional food service and commercial kitchens.

One stream is a complete engagementThis can be handled on its own, at one site, with no requirement to move anything else to KODA. It can also run as part of a full portfolio. The scope is yours to set and can change in either direction.

Questions

Used oil, cooking oil & grease trap waste, in practice

Does water or contamination disqualify used oil?

Not automatically, but it changes the outlet. Water content, solids and mixed chemistries move a load from re-refining toward fuel blending or treatment, which is why screening before placement matters.

Do you handle totes as well as bulk?

Yes. Totes and drums are common for smaller or intermittent streams, and tote exchange can be run on a schedule or on call.

Is grease trap waste the same service?

It is a separate outlet with separate permitting, but it is coordinated under the same program and reported together.

Start with the material,
not the invoice

Every engagement begins with a KODA Operational Review™ — a structured evaluation of your facility, materials, vendors and compliance requirements. Recommendations come from that data.
